Our Land

Our farming business is spread across two properties, our original farm "Thornby" at Sanderston on the Murray Plains and our second property at Coonalpyn in the Upper South East.

We strive to create a sustainable environment and have a strong commitment to preserving the environment we farm. Our farming practices are reflective of this through a variety of strategies that we employ including:

• reduced use of chemicals
• increased application of organic fertilizers such as chicken manure and bio-solids which reduces the amount of artificial fertilizers required
• stubble retention is also utilized to increase the organic carbon levels in the soil and further reduce the need for fertilizer application
• minimum soil disturbance at seeding, which reduces soil erosion from the wind
• ensuring that our operations are consistent to the capabilities of the land and soil and therefore protect the land for our future generations
